  New Games (Jun 28 - Jul 4)

WHA?!? K_GATOR'S DOIN' NEWS? WELL I'LL BE, PRAISE THA LAWD!

(Although I was sorely tempted by the Mean Girls box art.)

So, basically this week there's a load a crap. I've taken the time to sift through all this crap, and tell you that the only nuggets to be found in this humongous pile of stool are Mario Tennis, Jett Rocket, Tetris, and the LEGO Harry Potter compilations. Oh, and the new "Tiger Woods" game, where you can use your wood to either play 9 ho's or 18 ho's. Laugh

Also, I haven't posted the DSi games. I glanced at them, and I'll post them if anybody really wants me to, but I don't feel like sifting through more fecal matter, as I just washed my hands.

  Welcome Back
Posted by: leoedin - 06-13-2010 10:24 AM - Replies (20)

Sorry for the unexpected downtime, especially the large amount of time it took me to get us back online. Unfortunately our backups were in a weird format, and so it took considerably longer than I'd hoped to get them usable.

Hopefully we won't have any similar problems in the future.

The forum database should be approximately how it was when we went down. Posts made in the last few hours before we went offline may have disappeared. Sorry about this - it's just the nature of database backups

Leo

Just a quick note: The "Count to over 9000 thread" found here has now completed its stated goal.

It took precisely 3 years, 26 days, 4 hours and 42 minutes (or about 1,615,962 minutes) for us to reach the goal.

  End of Redirections?
Posted by: RueGorE - 05-04-2010 10:16 PM - Replies (4)

It has been slightly over a month since we've weathered some problems due to an act of DNS poisoning by our dear friend Masut.

Some of you never had problems connecting to our site, but others might have been redirected to a site that was "gbatmw.net" in the address bar of your browser, but was in fact connected to a different site IP than our own, possible by spreading false name resolution records to DNS servers.

As I said it has been over a month now, so have the problems cleared up for you? If you are currently making your way to our site by way of modifying your hosts file, please comment out those lines and restart your browsers. Try connecting to our site. We want to know if there are still problems.

Just insert # before the line to comment them out and save your changes. It should resemble this:

Code:
#98.142.216.200    gbatmw.net
#98.142.216.200    www.gbatmw.net

Again, if all works well please do not report that. We only want to hear from people who ARE STILL BEING REDIRECTED to that false site. You can either reply here (remove the pound signs, save the hosts file, restart the browser) when you get back or just send an email to webmaster@gbatmw.net

Thanks!

Lightbulb Temporary Fix for Redirects
Posted by: RueGorE - 04-01-2010 05:14 AM - Replies (105)

Seeing as how Mesut wants to play tricks with the DNS, let's just avoid them for now. How? Follow these steps:

FOR WINDOWS XP:
1) Open Notepad.exe
2) Navigate to C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc\
3) Open the file named simply as "hosts" (It does not have a file extension)
-note- You may need to make the file writable if it is set to Read Only in the file properties.
4) At the end of the file, insert these two lines:

Code:
98.142.216.200     gbatmw.net
98.142.216.200     www.gbatmw.net

5) Now save the changes to the same file. Do not make another "hosts" with your changes.
6) Restart your browser, then navigate to gbatmw.net

FOR WINDOWS VISTA & WINDOWS 7:
1) Click START, then ALL PROGRAMS then ACCESSORIES. Right-click on Notepad.exe and select "Run as Administrator"
2) You may need to enter your administrator password if the UAC comes up. Yes, you will need Admin rights to edit your hosts file.
3) The hosts file is at C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc\
4) Insert the same two lines as instructed above. Then save the file.
5) Restart your browser and navigate to gbatmw.net

If anyone else knows how to accomplish this using a Mac OS and/or a Linux system, please reply with detailed and clear instructions.

Please post your successes below to send a clear message to our friend Mesut (aka: 0xyG3N, Sasuke, etc) that we aren't going to put up with his bullshit.

And now a message to Mesut.

  Apologies for redirection
Posted by: leoedin - 03-29-2010 12:07 PM - Replies (89)

Hi,

We recently had some issues with the DNS records for the domain redirecting elsewhere. If you happened to come across the site at this time, all I can do is apologise if you were in any way upset or offended by what you saw. The server itself was never compromised, and no passwords or other personal data was lost.
If you have any questions, just ask.
