When you watch an anime, how important is it for the show to have good animation? Can you still like a show even though the animation is bellow average?
yes animation doesnt matter, as long as the story is interesting, I see good animation as an extra
If it's bad enough that it removes me from the "world" and has me focus on all the animation errors, then I'd say that's when it's too much to be enjoyable.

I approve this message.
Unless it is shocking I don't mind.

I approve your approval because I approve what has been approved

Sometimes I just don't like the style of animation, but a lot of times I can overlook it. First thing that comes to mind is Monster.

I am more lenient on comedy series. I still like watching Shin-chan even though it looks horrible.

Did you accidentally the animation?
I leave out words sometimes, when I'm carelessly typing.
I try not to let it bother me, though sometimes I go out of my way to pick certain shows apart even if I like them just to ensure I haven't lost my trained eye.
Sometimes I almost feel as though it's a subconscious thing. For instance, I disregarded One Piece very early on without paying much attention to it. I knew I didn't like the visual style from the start but I wanted to watch it anyway...eventually I just stopped (around the 15th episode) and I really can't think of a reason why.
It actually seems to happen with western cartoons a lot too. I can only name one Flash-animated cartoon I've actually been a fan of (Chilly Beach).
I don't really care about the animation because then I can make fun of it.
